Creating a Newsletter July 23, 2009

Have you ever gotten the opportunity to create newsletter for an organization? It can be a fun and interesting experience, as well as frustrating and time consuming.

Since January, I have been generating a monthly newsletter for The Backwater Retriever Club.  It has been, for the most part a enjoyable experience. Lately, however, it has become somewhat stressful. One board member sends me content for the newsletter, but sometimes there just isn’t much there. It gets stressful when I don’t have enough content for a two page newsletter, I want to publish the best newsletter I can each month, but some time it seems like a huge challenge.

Has this ever happened to you? What do you do when you don’t have any content for your newsletter?

Decorating My New house! July 22, 2009

I was so excited to decorate my new house when I moved it. But now it seems like the hardest challenge to feat. I like so many different styles, that it’s hard to chose! My husband says “one style and one style only, Lauren!” Great…which style do I chose?!

I read somewhere that the best place to start is to walk through each room and make a list of how you vision that room. The list should include colors, light fixtures, what’s hanging on the wall, where things are placed, etc. After you’ve done this in each room, prioritize which things are the most important. Do some research and price each item on the list to see what you’re going to have to spend.

I think that sounds like a great idea. That will be my task this weekend! How did you decorate your living space? Any advice?

What you will find here is my first ever blog. Right now, I am unsure exactly how this page will turn out or what it will become, so please bear with me. I have high hopes for it however.

I’m always open to suggestions and ideas, but please don’t tell me I’m doing it wrong. This is my page and I will use it the way I want to use it.
